Claudette has given over 50 talks, readings and slide shows on “Farewell, Aleppo” and Syria’s Jewish history. She has spoken at bookstores, synagogues, churches, schools, conferences, adult education programs, Rotary Clubs, museums, retirement communities, book fairs, and private book clubs, in New Mexico, California, New York, Florida, Maryland, Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania and Louisiana. In 2016, she was Scholar in Residence at Temple Beth Shalom in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

Themes of her presentations have included:

  • “Once-Common Ground: Uncovering Syria’s Christian and Jewish Roots,” an exploration of Jewish and Christian history in Syria, co-presented with Rev. Talitha Arnold, Senior Minister, United Church of Santa Fe.
 
  • “Another Aleppo,” a discussion with slides at the New Mexico History Museum followed by conversation with Ron Duncan Hart, author of “Sephardic Jews” and several other books, in conjunction with the museum’s exhibit, “Syria: Cultural Patrimony Under Threat.”  ​
 
  • “Aleppo After the Fall,” a reflection on witnessing the fall of Aleppo in 2016 just a few decades after her family left the city where a Jewish community had lived since biblical times.
 
  • “Intersections With History,” suggestions for collecting and sharing family stories.

  • “From Spark to Marketing: Keeping Your Heart in Your Writing,” conversation as panel member at the Santa Fe Jewish Book Fair.​
