In my writing classes I like to say,
“It takes more than an interesting life to make an interesting story, but it helps.” Completing the process takes wise, heartfelt writing and skilled, respectful editing. I love helping new or experienced writers take their project from a rough idea to a polished manuscript, whether for publication, a family keepsake, or their own personal journey. I can work with you on a per-page or per-project basis, in the consultation, developmental editing, line editing, or proofreading stage as needed. In addition to family stories, my specialties are science, nature, and history. I take on projects I love, because I find editing can be a joy that complements the joys of writing.

Testimonials
I met Claudette Sutton in Santa Fe during a presentation of her book Farewell, Aleppo, where she described her family ancestry in Aleppo and their departure from Syria to the United Statesin the mid-1900s. Visiting New Mexico in 2019, I met with Claudette to discuss how she could best help me to create a book of my family history, one that flows well from the beginning to the end. I am deeply grateful to her for helping bring my work to its successful completion. Claudette believed in my story, and I have appreciated her patience, gentleness, and professional direction at every step of the way. -Michel Messeca, Author Messeca Family: Jews of the Nile, From Cairo to Jerusalem Claudette has been a wonderful collaborator, writer, and editor. She and I worked on three articles to feature the Del Norte LOV Foundation’s partnership with Tumbleweeds in 2021. She was very patient with me, from the brainstorming stages and all the way through the final editing before publication. She challenged me and took me out of my comfort zone – asking me to write from within using personal experiences and relating it to a broader audience. She made me a better writer. -Connie Tooker Nuñez, Director, Del Norte LOV Foundation Claudette is brilliant and very accessible. Anyone would be fortunate to work with her as a writing guide or colleague. -Cynthia Fulreader, LPC/Mental Health Counselor |
